Member states are allowed to run their own affairs, to retain sovereignty, only where the EU does not.!! How kind of them!! Jurisdiction from Brussels is specified in transport, energy, trade, competition, agriculture, fisheries, space exploration, social policy, public health,(NHS?) employment policy, consumer protection, asylum, immigration, criminal justice and foreign affairs. No wonder our politicians talk about schools so much. It’s pretty much all that’s left!

Writing a constitution is one thing, getting nations to agree to it is another. The US did pretty much the same thing in 1789, and 36 territories and 1 nation (Texas) agreed to it. They are only 218 years late.
