After WW-I.. And the death of entire generation of young and middle age men, left a lot of children with out fathers.... So fathers Day was created as a tool of rememberence of the loses of so many father by people against war... Mothers day came about later, Also Hallmark did not create it they just revived it and created a market for their cards..........................

Hallmark greeting cards created both Father's day and Mother's day....if there is a buck to be made, leave it to good old US greed to find the way.!!
