I think the most intensive computer game I will play is Medieval 2 Total War. I like mainly strategies. I found this computer that I could buy:

That one says it has a 256mb card, and so does Medieval 2. Will it be adaquate? If not what kind of card should I look for to play strategies?

That PC and itsATI x1650 card more than exceeds the official system requirement of your game.
BUT if you want something better and more "future proof", consider a DX10 card such as the 8600GT.

Buy a 512MB card with decent processing power that meets your budget will do the job. 256 for these days games are like entry level . invest in something decent so you wont worry for a few years. brands such as ATI or G-Force (you can try getting an SLI card)

THE 256 ON THE CARD IS ADDITIONAL, MOST CARDS ARE 256MB. YOU HAVE TO KNOW IF THE COMPUTER YOU WANT HAS A PCI SLOT OR A PCI EXPRESS OR PCIe. MOST NEW COMPUTERS HAVE A PCI EXPRESS SLOT AND ALL NEW VIDEO CARDS ARE FOR THE PCIe SLOT. AFTER YOU KNOW WHICH IS IN THE COMPUTER, THEN I WOULD SUGGEST A NVIDIA CARD. GO TO NVIDIA.COM CHOOSE THE CARD YOU LIKE AND CAN AFFORD, THEN GO TO NEWEGG.COM OR TIGERDIRECT.COM AND RESEACH THE PRICE. ALSO TRY A SITE CALLED COMPUVEST.COM , THEY PRETTY CHEAP PRICES
