My husband and I met on Yahoo Personals. Met in January, engaged in February and married in May (of the same year)! Everyone said it was too soon for us to get married, but since we are of age (mid 40's) and we truly love each other, we did it! I know we still have to discover a lot about each other, but everyday is a new adventure for us, True, there will be little surprises here and there, but at the end of the day, we know we really love each other very much.

I used to be a part of an online historical RP community called "Ancient Sites", and we had several people who met each other on the site and then married. One of the couples are good friends of mine; I went to their wedding 7 years ago, and this is where I first met them in real life, although I had known them online for about a year. There were about 15 AS people at their wedding, coming from different places in the US as well as from England and Norway. One of the couples who met at the wedding later married.
I dated one person whom I met on this site, but it ultimately didn't work out. I met my husband through the online personals; we didn't make a secret out of how we met.

yes i met my current husband online. yes we told everyone how we met, at least i did. but my suggestion to you is to investigate this person before you marry. especially if they're from an area different from your location. and antoher piece of advice, if they have exes, listen to what they tell you about this person because its probably true. my husband left me last week, 3 days before our 2nd wedding anniversary. we bought a valuable home 1 yer ago this month and he has abandoned everything including myself with no income and now i've had to give up my vehicle. he has turned out to be completely opposite of what I thought.
our relationship was great from the start as well as others that have answered. but when it came to his children causing problems in the marriage, well he just didn't see it. and he had an issue claiming to be unhappy, but yet wouldn't talk about it. i'm guessing he has found someone else, which thats why i say know what you're doing beforehand. hehad cheated on several girlfriends in the past and on me as well, of which i didn't know about until we had been married for a couple months. BE CAREFUL!! is all i can say. its true you never really know a person or what they might do, but you sometimes meeet someone that makes you feel secure enought to think they wouldn't treat you a certain way.
good luck to you and yours

I have a very good friend that moved from Chile to Spain last year to meet the love of his life that met in a chat room. They are both back in Chile now and tells me he is the happiest man in the world, that he finally found his soulmate. The wedding is next January, I'll be really happy to go!

I've not married him but we are engaged and could not be happier! His family/friends know how we met but my family doesnt! They wouldnt be happy about it at all!
Meeting someone online is so difffrent than in person as you get to know the person alot more chatting etc you get to know alot more (if they tell the truth that is) and also keeps your options open you have the whole world wide web to go at and not just your local town for possibles!

I met my husband online... only to find out that we lived 2 miles from one another. On top of that, he went to school with my older brother and sister and I went to school with his little brother. We told our parents how we met. They were okay with it, but probably because of how close we lived to one another. It was so crazy. We are happier now than the day we married. Each day just gets greater and greater.
It's really no different than meeting someone in a club... they are going to tell you want they think you want to hear for the most part anyway. I met lots of guys in public places that turned out to be complete losers. I was excited when Marcus turned out to be my prince charming!

yes, we told them how we met, i was honest from the beginning. his parents are older & freaked out by the "internet" thing, so at first he told them we met at a club or something.... but they know now.

I am sure there have been success stories, and if I did meet someone online and married them, I would tell people how we met, you shouldn't really keep secrets from your family, if they don't like it they can... in polite terms.. lump it..
