When you are shopping online, I am sure you are not looking for brand name websites, which obviously are expensive whether you buy online or walk into their stores.I personally would look for cheap deals, more like use and give away when the fashion goes out of style. I found this website which offers cheap cotton clothing all below $25 .

wear something casual, and nice, not too formal, or too sexy, just the right closthe on a date, your going to the movies, this is not church or anything like that, besides, most girlfriends, just wear jeans, and tank tops, do what other girls are doing, that shows good role models,
or "girlfriend role models"

if u r going on a casualle (sp??) date wear somthing like jeans and a summery, nice (but not to nice) top and flip-flops.
if it is sligtly more dressy wear a cute sundress and flipflops.
i highly doubt it will be formal if it is ur first date
