I have been too busy lately to learn about the republican presidential candidates. I know the names of who is running, but I am not sure of what they stand for???? I am a conservative, so I am wanting to know things like what their stand is on abortion, stem call research, etc.

Rudy Giuliani:
Republican who is in the front running. He was mayor of New York, and reduced crime rate. However, he was accused of racism. He is very liberal, for gay marriage and not for banning abortion. He also has had messy divorces and affairs, and has dressed up as a women before for votes.

However, he has one main card playing for him. After 9-11-2001, he was a real hero. He stepped up to the plate and started giving great speeches and reunited the country while Bush was hiding. He was Time Magazine's 2001 Man of the Year.

--

John McCain: Guy who has never really been in favor with his own party. When the war was popular, he didn't support it because he said Bush handled it all wrong. Now that Bush had the surge in troops. McCain is all for it, despite how everyone is against the war now. He is a man of his word, and I'll respect him for that. HE has also embarrassed himself by claiming Iraq was safe when he couldn't back it up, and was forced to admit he was wrong.

Mitt Romney: Interesting guy. The only thing half the country knows about him is that he is a Mormon. He is rightwing Republican though, and Americans are starting to get to know him better.

Fred Thompson: Where most Evangelical Christians turn. He is their man. Giuliani is pro abortion, McCain is for the war, and Romney is a Mormon so they don't know where to turn. They found their guy in Fred, but not a chance at winning overall.

I'm afraid most of them have the same old rhetoric, just recycled. However, I personally feel that Fred Thompson is the ideal candidate. Although he hasn't announced "officially" yet (he is supposed too on July 4th) He let it be know that he is gonna run. Fred has an impeccable record, his values are of the highest standards, he believes in the constitution and has a brain. He has a website, I think it's called "I'm for fred.com" orr "I'm with fred.com" something like that. Check him out, I think you will be impressed. I was.

Let me give you an breifing from my POV.
Three mainstream, corporate backed guys are Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and McCain.

RG- Pro-choice, he is very much for the war on terror and believes and emphasizes that we are in constant danger. (leads by fear), For amnesty. CFR member (superhighway NAU)
Mitt ROmney - Pro-choice/pro-life flip-flopper, flip-flops when it comes to war, for amnesty and illegal immigration but flipflops on just about everything. Basically can't be trusted.CFR member (superhighway NAU)
McCain- Prolife, Amnesty advocate (he wrote the bill), talks about terrorism alot, against torture, CFR member (superhighway NAU)

Tancredo, THompson and Ron Paul are the only real founding father material guys. all prolife but want to give more power to the states and Ron Paul is my favorite. I have never seen a more honest politician. He opposes pre-emptive wars but is all for defending our nation if need be.

Overview of Ron Paul's record
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.

Afterwards look at their voting records, their websites, and keep up with them in the news.

Trust me you aren't gonna get any good answers on here. Or I should say very few.

It would be best if you just looked at their wepages or try this site:

Don't worry about any of them. None are that good. You are better off voting for one of the Democrats. I would suggest Obama as a possible choice.
