Wow that sounds like fun! Well, the big hair and side ponytails is definitely a big must, if you have or can find acid washed jeans that'd be great, also lots of eyeliner, the more colorful the better. wear lots of scarves and ribbons on your hair and tied around your wrists, also if you can find some lacy or thin gloves and cut of the fingers. Leggings were huge back then, as well as leg warmers, a tip, get an old sweatshirt and cut off the neck in a diagonal line. Umm, let me see what else, try to find some huge plastic sunglasses, if they're square even better. I can't think of anything more! But maybe the beginning sequence of "13 going on 30" might help, it's VERY 80's. Good Luck, and have fun at the party!

I went to an 80s party last month! I saw a lot of layered tank tops, very colorful. Bangle bracelets, jelly shoes, leggings under a mini skirt like another person said. Side pony-tails were definitely in. Colorful socks, crimped hair. Good Will is a great place to look for the fashion!

Mini skirts with leg warmers! Big hair was the 80s also.
Neon was coming in the late 80s or if you could find a Wham Choose Life t-shirt.

Lots of eye makeup, leg warmers, polka dots, mis-matched colors, ratted hair and headbands, definitely day-glo socks if you don't have warmers. Tight jeans. If you can watch VH1 Classic or "Pretty in Pink' that will give you some ideas.
