The bill allows illegal immigrants who were in the country as of Jan. 1, 2007, to come forward, pay fees and fines, pass a background check and receive an indefinitely renewable four-year Z visa to live and work legally in the U.S.
Ultimately, holders of Z visas could qualify for citizenship if they learn English and hold down jobs. Heads of households would have to return to their home countries, whether or not they sought a green card bestowing permanent legal resident status.
The bill also creates a new employment-based point system for new immigrants to qualify for green cards based on their education and skill level, and eliminates or limits visa preferences for family members of U.S. citizens and permanent legal residents.

P.P.S.-I think it's good on SOME levels, because I know a few people who are from other countries, and I have NEVER seen an American work as hard or as long as they do with absolutely no complaint. I think those particular people are an asset to our country.

And I must say, this isn't ANYbody's country. NO ONE has "AMERICAN" blood. Well, besides the Native Americans, but look what we "Americans" did to them.

To certain ignorant people-if we're sending every non American back to their countries, than they may as well send me back to Italy, and you back to whatever part of the world you originated from. Comeup with a better argument than that. And one guy said, "I'm more worried about the idiots in the white house than the illegals." DAMN right. THOSE are the dangerous ones.
