I'm curious, because I don't feel guilty about anything.

Guilt isn't on my mind, I just see all these leftist do gooders and their white guilt running around trying to "fix" everything with the funds of productive people. I'm white, grew up in a crappy neighborhood, worked hard and became very successful. I have no guilt.

No. First of all, you weren't born when slavery, the genocide of the Native Americans etc. was going on. You have nothing to apologize for. At least I've never been a believer in that "sins of the father" BS.

Second, people need to put all the bad stuff that Europeans did in context. The pre-modern world was brutal, and that was normal behavior back then. The people they conquered by-in-large weren't any better than them and and would have done the exact same thing if they'd been the first to develop gunpowder and technology instead.

Like, for instance, it really cracks me up when Mexicans complain about the bad stuff the Conquistadors did to them, and then proudly associate themselves with a brutal, imperialistic, militaristic regime built on plunder and extortion and practiced human sacrifice (I'm talking about the Aztec Empire).

no, not unless like what Ms said, you have done something wrong, which you probably have not

by the way, it is a erroneous rumor that started that black people or other people feel white people should feel guilty about things

i hear conservatives and others say that WE feel this way but it is really not true

the average black person is just trying to live his or her life

NOW do I think that white people who lived during slavery that owned slaves or saw their mistreatment and said and did nothing should feel guilty? yes

also, all those people living when black people were being lynched and killed and all the violence surrounding the Civil Rights movement ...I mean those people who KNEW that someone had killed someone or did something..yes they
should feel guilty

BUT

I feel the same way about black people who know people are doing wrong and don't stop it or tell someone about it and about people like all those Germans who saw Jews slowly disappearing and other people

I think that if anyone is around when someone is being mistreated and they don't say or do something (not always easy or available) then they should feel guilty.

I don't know you so I can't say. If you haven't been around something bad (no matter what color or religion or sexual orientation or etc a person is) then you don't have anything to be guilty about.

nah, you shouldn't feel guilty. Every person is an individual. If you didn't personally enslave people in the past, oppress anyone, or anything else...even steal land from natives, then you have no reason to. It doesn't matter if your ancestors did it because YOU didn't. Live out your happy and successful life man.

guggie, I've never stolen anything from anyone, let alone an american indian. Nor have I ever bought owned or sold a slave or condoned slavery, I refuse to feel guilty about the fact that through out history on the entire planet, people have been over run, enslaved, mistreated or whatever. Get over it.
Guilty indeed!! the concept is infantile.

Not unless you have recently done something to feel guilty about.
Where as being white is concerned, I don't know about you personally but the entire planet has benefited greatly from your ancestors creativity.

Liar!! If you didn't feel guilty about something then why are you asking this question. Whatever it is, it must be on your mind right now.
