painters wear white because way back people used to white wash thier houses to protect them from the weather. hence forth the whitewasher would always appear to have on white clothes. window washers wear blue to match the window cleaner? i don't know

Maybe painters wear white so the light reflected onto their work won't cast a colour on the paint which could make it harder to see what they have covered.

Does this sort of thing worry you?

My has been a painter and decorator for 34 years and i just asked him for you. He said "cos thats what you get told to wear when your an apprentice". And also it means you can wash overalls at really high tempratures to get paint off but theres no colour to fade.
