Bush honestly thinks Americans are stupid. And apparently, we must be somewhat stupid to have voted him in... twice.
But the common Conservative conception that "if we leave, they'll follow is" isn't working anymore. Didn't we narrowly escape an attack at JFK a couple of weeks ago? It doesn't matter how long we stay over there. If they want over here, they can find a way to get over here. Which just goes to show we need to be protecting our homeland way more than we need to protect Iraq.

Ya know, there are good things going on there too. Involving: schools, infrastructure, police, roads, water, and more. You have to keep in mind that we have a current news media pushing, twisting and manipulating everything we hear from that area, in hopes of a white house rocking, president replacing, issue. And yet they don't get one. So they manipulate what they DO have.
Sure its bad right now, its a war. It would be nice to see a few of the other sides statistics instead of just ours though. Seriously, think about what effect this would have. The type of information we are given gives an appearance that we send troops and they just die as if in front of a firing squad. No reasons, no explanations of what was involved, well most of the time anyway. For the most part all we hear is... another 4,5,7 troops dead raising the total to... We never hear the other side. That those 4 or 5, or 7 troops were responsible for elimination of 20, 30, or 120 insurgents. THIS TYPE OF THING HAS HAPPENED. And you sure wont hear about the positive elements of this. That would go against the medias agenda.
Yes, this has made us safer. Trouble is, this is a long-term investment. Steering a country in the right direction is similar to driving an ocean liner through a slalom course... It takes a lot of time for change, and Americans are impatient when it comes to long-term investments.

1. Mostly it is the terrorists and the radical religious Iraqis who are doing the killing right now. The soldiers are trying to protect the civilians of Iraq.
2. No we do not think they have forgotten we are in America. We are fighting them there, so they will not be able to come here.
3. Where is your moral indignation about the chaos being created in Gaza?

Noooooo! We are safer in America because of all the policies the Bush administration has enacted and pursued in response to the 9-11 attacks. You liberal fools decry these policies as an affront to your personal liberties, but cannot name one right of yours that has been taken away. Has the US been attacked in the almost 6 years since 9-11?
Lastly, the US will be attacked if liberals are elected into larger majorities in the Senate and House and into the Presidency. They are already starting to strip away some of these policies, both foreign and domestic.

wasn't it Dem-o-rats that also voted for war? A president can't just declare war, Congress had to approve it. And Dem-o-wits overwhelmingly voted for it, voted to fund it and Hilary still backs it!
Seeing that intell shows Iran and Syria fighters have been catptured and or killed, Iraq is a hot bed for islamic insurgents funneling from other countries, would you want that fight here? These guys want you dead! They don't care about your political ideology, convert to islam or death. Those are your options. Nick Berg and many other captured Americans didn't even get that option, they were just beheaded.
Yep, Islam, the religion of peace.

The Bush administration isn't concerned about terrorists.
Bush was ordered to unconstitutionally, illegally, unjustifiably and immorally invade another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the U.S.A. for three terribly 'lame' reasons:
1. The Bush family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since the days of Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was criticized, ridiculed and humiliated for 'not finishing the job' and ousting Hussein at that time;
2. Dick Cheney and his Exxon-Mobil buddies want all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so they can get richer and richer and richer feeding America's addiction to cheap, easily-accessible foreign OIL instead of developing cheaper and less profitable alternative fuels;
3. Ever since World War II, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex recognized how profitable 'war' could be. So all the politicians were bought up, pricey lobbyists were hired and special interest groups were formed to encourage and promote more 'war'. Thus, the U.S.A. got involved in the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War; Vietnam and Desert Storm all for the sake of boosting the profits of government contracts such as McDonnell-Douglass, Lockheed-Martin and Sikorsky. Another 'war' was necessary to generate more profits, AND create new revenues for those two 'newcomer' government contractors: the Carlyle Group and Halliburton, both companies of which have direct ties to the Bush-Cheney White House.
From Day One, we were in this insane 'war' for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. The 'terrorist' threat is just to keep gullible people ignorant and scared. We have no intention of ever bringing democracy to Iraq. And, we will maintain a military presence in Iraq until we've sucked every drop of OIL from Iraq's sands. If that's not the case, WHY are we building the world's largest embassy on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the headquarters of the 'new' Iraqi puppet government installed by the Bush administration??
To repeat: the Bush administration is fighting this immoral 'war' all for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. Nothing else. Period. -RKO- 06/15/07

Dont forget about how we're "spreading democracy to underprivileged areas of the world"! No seriously, its gotten old. I can understand us going in there to get Al Queda or whoever attacked us on 9/11, but instead we attack thier government and bring them down...okay, where is the connection?

I am sorry but I think your assessment of the motivations behind this war are far from accurate. I believe that to minimalize the reasoning behind this war, you verge on irresponsibility in terms of what is actually happening. This war has been brutally mis-managed and probably technically a farce of international law. My only problem with your statement is that it is a left winger version of a neo-con's attempt to simplify an issue into an emotional debate.

Well...Kind of...they are in a bind fighting there and simply do not have the resources to undertake a massive attack on US soil at the present. And No, we don't think they have forgotten we are in America, that's why we are fighting them THERE!
You have seriously over simplified this and ignored many facts and details.
