Whether Hilton received special treatment from the Sheriff's Department has become the subject of much debate since Sheriff Lee Baca last week allowed the hotel heiress to go home after less than four full days in jail, despite a promise that she would serve 23 days of a 45-day sentence.
The Times analyzed 2 million jail releases and found 1,500 cases since July 2002 that — like Hilton's involved defendants arrested for drunk driving and sentenced to jail after a probation violation or driving without a license. Had Hilton left jail for good after four days, her stint behind bars would have been similar to those served by 60% of those inmates.Hilton's attorney announced that she would serve the full 23 days. That means that Hilton will end up serving more time than 80% of other people in similar situations.

I know the commie rich people haters will say yes she should serve more time...honestly though...is it fair that she does 45 days when MOST who did the same exact crime do 4 days and then are released? Of course it's not fair. She's getting the OPPOSITE Treatement of what most celebs get...the judge in my opine is using this case to puff himself up and not abide by what is common practice. putz.

and how much time did Mel Gibson, and Billy Joel serve? Wasn't he arrested TWICE for drunk driving, amongst other things....
I wish they had "made an example" out of him instead of her. The only thing that this case has proved is that if a judge wants to screw you over, they can. This just proves how dysfunctional our system is in a blatant and glaring way! If she were a "person of color", I am sure Rev. Sharpton would be hollering about it being unfair and how the system is set up against her !!!

They're (rightfully, in my opinion) using her as an example for the masses to say, "look, she's not getting away with it, and you won't, either." Drunk driving is a serious problem we need to crack down on, and if others aren't getting the same jail time, they ought to be. And isn't this like her 3rd offense? If the same were to happen to an ordinary citizen, and they'd let Hilton out with minimal punishment, they'd just say "well Paris Hilton did the same thing and you don't see her in jail," and then they'd sue, blah blah blah.
By the way, celebrity haters are not 'communists.' She committed a crime and now she's paying for it. Justice is justice, it just happens a little more rarely to the celebrities, thus bringing the increased interest in seeing justice served.

I don't feel sad that maybe she is being made to be an example. These people think they are above the law. I'm sure she had gotten away with a lot already. She needs to take her drunk driving seriously. In the meantime, maybe some of these other snotty-nosed spoiled rich kids will take notice and learn they they can go down too. Fair or not.. nobody ever said life was fair. But I think it is.

i think that that is elementary. merely because of the fact she is mythical and wealthy would not recommend that she is above the regulation. I even have in no way seen absolutely everyone get out of penal complex for a flippin rash. i know how jails artwork/hubby is in regulation enforcement. If a woman could be pregnant and function a toddler in penal complex---Paris can sit down in there with a rash. Jails will transport you to a doctor and that they've nurses to manage prescribed meds. The sheriff there's a humorous tale. Paris would have killed somebody. In my state in case you get busted ONE time driving on a suspended license--you bypass to penal complex suitable then and there. She replaced into busted two times driving on a suspended license. She merits penal complex time and hella fines.

So, who said Life was Fair??? Paris will be a much better person after having to go through this. I am sure that her popularity is going up with every day she is in jail and the future book sales have to be to be growing too.
I think she should have had to perform 100 hours of "public" service.

so you say that she will be serving more time that 80% of the people who are convicted of similair offenses? Then yes it is fair, because at least 20% of people served more time than her. The thing with this is that Paris seems to be caught between 2 groups of people who are fighting.
To be a rich commie hater, I say it could not have happened to a better spoiled brat.

The 60% who didn't do full time probably didn't get nailed TWICE for DUI on a suspended license and actually showed up at the court on time.
I wouldn't mind her doing less time if it weren't for all the really sleasy ways she tried to weasel out of doing just 23 days in jail. If she'd been stand-up about facing the music, I'd have more respect for her . . . not A LOT more . . . but more.

Paris got the book thrown at her because she pissed off the judge by showing up late, yelling at him, whining about jail. When she was realeased to house arrest she immediatly threw a party, so the judge threw her back in jail. Any normal person doing this would of had the judge lean on them too so she is being treated fairly. She was her own worst enemy thru this whole ordeal.

So Be It ! Let them make an example out of her! Maybe then she'll rethink her actions and other celebrities will maybe get a message. I say kudos to that judge!

Is it fair that we have to be subjected to an endless amount of Paris Hilton questions? Get over it already.
