why do older people run the us government?

if they get busted on something, they just resign and live on there nest egg. get somebody who has a future to loose.

dear dude, there are more baby boomers than anybody else. not our fault.

i know experience leads to wisdom, but it also leads to closed mindedness, like promising to veto everything. isn't it time for an open minded leader.

Political office is often won on the strength of past accomplishments and reputation. Those things are acquired over time. A youthful candidate is more of an unkown quantity and voters will have less confidence in him.

Young people tend to be extremist in their views. They usually see every issue in black and white. Their lack of experience and wisdom usually precludes a sober cost-benefit analysis. They are not as good as older people at making difficult decisions -- specifically, choosing the least of several evils. Just look at the people posting on these boards.

EDIT; yes, there are more baby boomers, but if you check the numbers less than fifteen percent of eligible voters under thirty vote while about sixty five or so percent of those over forty vote. More older people vote, more older people get elected. If sixty five percent of eligible voters under thirty vote in the next election our entire government would change.

How about one of the 15 year old people on this site? Most of them can't even spell and their grammar is atrocious but nevertheless they are young and have a future to lose.
