How can i get my microphone on my gateway widescreen laptop to work? and no is not the volume.?

I'm trying to talk on my Yahoo IM but for some reason I can hear them but they can not hear me.

Make sure that you have your microphone plugged into the right socket.

it's the in built mic?
if its not make sure its in the right socket

start > programs > accessories > entertainment > volume control

options > in properties change it to change to RECORDING
instead of play back , the OK

TICK microphone.. ON

apply.. start yahoo or whatever.

should work ok, or if you have msn also, in msn messenger.. tools > audio/video settings .. and u can see if ur getting input on the mic.
