I'm just wondering out of curiosity, and since the brain can command the body, couldn't it command it to shrink? So is it possible to shrink your body from thought? By believing that your one inch tall, without any doubts, could your body suddenly shrink? I know alot of people are just going to say "NO", but I'm just curious.

you brain has different levels of functioning - for example, you can hold your breath for a while, but eventually the parts of your brain that regulate your biological systems are going to take over. I don't think that is one that is going to happen. It is just too extreme.
That doesn't mean that there aren't odd things that the brain can't do though... I read once (andthere were pictures) where a person had an ordinary coin held against their skin for two hours, and was told to spend that time envisioning that the coin was a hot piece of metal burning through their skin.
When the coin was removed two hours later, the skin underneath the coin was red and blistered just as if the person had actually been burned, even though no heat was applied to the coin at all. Weird, huh?

sure...people can shrink themselves--it's called anorexia.
but that's a jerky answer =X
essentially, when things shrink, something is removed from the thing--for example, sponges can be large, wet, and smooshy; or they can be small, dry, and hard...the difference is the water was removed.

so anyway...no there will be no one screaming out "honey, i shrunk the kids..." because of one elegent law of physics, the conservation of mass/matter.
