try cleaning and rinsing out the gravel in a seperate container first; before you put it in the tank

Just put the gravel into a strainer and wash it through thoroughly until you see that the water that runs away is completely clear, use your hands to help the process, move it around when you wash the gravel off.
After that it is save to put it in your tank.
Your tank will still get a little cloudy, but it should stabilize after about 24 hours, if not just put "Water Clarifier" in your tank as directed and it will clear up after about 24 hours
Good luck

Wash the gravel before you put it in. If it is a small tank you may have to clean a few times after you put the new gravel in.

It's the gravel sediment that clouds the water.Thoroughly rinse the gravel half a dozen times before you add it to the tank.

Just rinse the gravel in small batches very well with warm water. Rinse until the water runs through it and comes out clear. This will prevent the majority of the typical cloudiness.

1.) If you are actually using colored gravel, you canput it in a noodle strainer, and if you have a detachale shower head...get the water realllly hot and rinse the rocks..
2.) Another alternative is to use the decrative stones, but still do the same thing as with the gravel, so not to make the fish sick. =]
good luck!!

I take small batches of the gravel, put it in a strainer with small holes and run water through it until the water runs through clear. Put that gravel in the tank and start over.....then add water slowly (and treat it to eliminate chlorine, etc). Good luck!

Yup, bye bye fish. your in undemanding terms wager is older filter out media from the previous tank or probably a filter out help regardless of the incontrovertible fact that maximum are a rip-off. 10 gallons is far too small for those fish, they desire fifty 5 gallons + between them. Edit---- putting them in yet another field would be merely as undesirable. the comparable will take place. Do known water differences and verify out the water in many cases and that they are going to probable pull by, goldfish are hardy.yet their hardiness would not provide an proprietor a reason to slack off. the 1st tank they have been extra to, they probable suffered from ammonia burns, you merely could no longer see it. verify for contaminated gills. i haven't stated they had die, i've got merely pronounced there's of challenge of them surviving and of challenge of them loss of existence. Goldfish won't be able to be saved in 10 gallons ffs! they're concerning to the prussian carp which strengthen their finished lives. absolutely everyone that tells you fish strengthen to the dimensions of the tank is speaking bs. Their insides shop on transforming into yet their outdoors won't be able to. If the three 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous fish is completely grown, it has an more advantageous hazard of survival than the 6 month previous goldfish. you will conflict to maintain good water high quality in 10 gallons with 2 waste machines a.ok.a goldfish.
