I'm not holding my breath wondering how this latest experiment with the socialist workers' paradise will turn out. I already know. No big deal, the socialist die hards can always just say that Hugo wasn't "the right guy".

A dictator is a dictator, they always say they are doing it for the little people, but history tells a different story.
Talk to the people of Venezuela, they probably have a different view living in the big experiment, and keep in mind we hear what Chavez wants us to hear from his domain, that's part of the whole dictator shtick.
On second thought, maybe we should allow our presidents the power to decided they will stay in office without ANY vote, popular or electoral, and experiment on our way of live. Now there's a concept,
Oh wait, they tried that in the USSR and it didn't work there either.

If the are Democrats which is most city's as they hand out welfare for votes.(Prostitution any one) and if this is the case no as the votes the left gets issues do not matter only who is going to give to the welfare rolls. Toledo Ohio in 04- Cleveland democrats got caught buying votes with crack cocaine. On Glenn Beck Glenn had a Republican Senator on who said the people there did not agree with the mayor who had only a few months left. He also said this guy the mayor had converted to Islam and changed his name all after election. And like all Democrat mayors they are the bottom of the pile. New Orleans Nagan who stole money from the dike projects with eh other state Libs. Columbus Ohio Mayor don't challenge my man hood Colman who let a high school girl with mental retardation get raped by gang members at a high school. " said he could not do any thing as the school board did also. So vote Republican and get rid of these scum bag cut and run Libs who wish to destroy the USA and have done a good job so far.

I also think Hugo Chavez is great. But the measures he is taking are for helping the poorer classes and American presidents do not like that kind of thing. It smacks of Socialism. Bush or his successor will destroy him, as they did every progressive leader in C and S America in the past. It is not for nothing they are called the Great Satan.

I love Chavez in the way I love a sitcom character. His outrageous statements that defy all diplomatic conventions, so funny. But the I also think GWB is funny, so maybe I just have a warped sense of humour.

I find democratic socialism a good thing in general. I am a bit lazy to read about him and current events in Venezuela but can you explain me then why did he closed down that TV station. That is not a sign of democracy but of clear dictatorship. And mentioning of "imperialistic" enemies of the people? Now, that is the stupid side of socialism, seeing "enemies of the people" in everyone who oppose your rule, from that CEO in some corporation to the poorest beggar who dared to raise his voice against the current goverment.
