How can you get rid of those small pesky snails in a fresh water tank?

A few options:

One is a fish that eats snails such as a yoyo loach or a clown loach. That will work if you have tank space for them.

The second option is to trap them out. Use a small plastic food container with a snap on lid. Punch several holes in the sides and lid large enough for the snails to get through but too small for the fish to get into the container. Add a small handful of gravel from the tank to weight it down and place a piece of lettuce or similar vegetable inside. Pu this in your tank around the time you turn off the lights and collect it in the morning. You will be amazed how many snails you will trap. Continue this for several days running and you can remove the vast majority of the snails with very little effort.

Please don't use chemicals to kill the snails. They are rough on the fish and all of the dieing snails will foul the tank water quickly as well.
