Absolutely. You are gathering information, and that's fine. I would recommend, though, that if the salesperson who helped you did a good job, that you get his or her name and try to deal with the same person when you are ready to buy the car, since you they have already worked with you once.

**No, they will tell you some price then when you go they will tell you a completely different one**

There is a simple way to avoid that: talk to the same salesperson both times, and also ask him to write down the estimate he gave you the first time. That way, when you go back, you can say, "Okay, you quoted me this price, now I'm ready to buy." If you are dealing with a reputable dealership, there should be no problem with that.

If you live near a Carmax, go there. They are no-pressure salesman - they make the same dollar commission whether they sell a Saturn or a BMW. They have all different makes and models so you could really explore different options. They have no haggle pricing. I have purchased my last 3 vehicles from Carmax in Illinois and Indiana and have been incredibly pleased each time.

Yes, it is OK. Just be sure to tell the salesperson who comes to take care of you exactly why you are there. He/she doesn't need to waste their time trying to do the sales pitch if you are only 'tire kicking'. They will be glad to answer any questions you may have, but they also need to go on to the next person who is there to buy at the given time.

I do it on occasion, just to get a feel for what sort of product is on the market currently, but I make sure I don't waste a salesperson's time, unless they want me to waste it.

sure its no problem , just tell them you are there to see some models to help make up your mind , can even ask if they'll see how much you could get preapproved for, doesnt mean your going to buy just that your getting a smuch info as you can
