I am attending a wedding in Big Sur, California. I've never been to the area before, and when searching for local hotels and restaurants, I really didn't come up with much of anything. Any suggestions?

It's pretty rural in Big Sur. Mostly camping. But you can get a hotel in Carmel/Monterey Bay and be able to do the wedding. Just don't get too drunk to drive back to the hotel.

I just took a "road trip" last weekend with a friend. We drove from Carmel, through Big Sur all the way down to Morro Bay in just a few hours. Stopped at Hearst Castle on the way and took two of their tours which ate up about 4 hours of the day.
Had delicious meals in Morro Bay at several restaurants right on the water.

Bring a jacket.

On Food Network, rachael ray recently did a road trip from CArmel to San Luis Obispo and stopped n Big Sur and went to Cielo at the Ventana Inn. Or drive up the coast 30 miles to Carmel.Tons of restaurants there.

All I can say about Big Sur is that it is a cool place and is served by public transit from Monterrey MST line 22 which is a great scenic ride.

Stay at Ventana, a short drive South of Monterey on Hwy 1

Plenty of restaurants in Carmel/Monterey area. And you could stay there and just drive a little--not too far--plus a very scenic drive along the coast.

the section is extremely high priced (as you have found out) yet you will get good lodge room fees in March (below one hundred/night) in Carmel, this is merely a pair of million/2 hour rigidity or so from vast Sur. Pfiefer vast Sur State Park has camping out once you're up for that, and that's a eye-catching park so be advantageous and supply up there once you're in the section - various hiking trails. there is likewise a sea coast this is during hiway one million this is a component of the park - large trails there too. appropriate suggestion i will supply you is to top off YOUR motor vehicle earlier you initiate heading down hiway one million from Carmel - in case you settle directly to go down the coast a pair of hours or so and want gasoline alongside the way you would be paying 5 greenbacks a gallon as there is completely one million station. a sturdy place to consume in Carmel - close to the downtown section - is suggested as "Forge in the wooded area". large nutrition - their french onion soup is spectacular! For dessert get the chocolate chip cookie baked in a skillet (can not think of of what they call it) even with the undeniable fact that this is crowned with chocolate & ice cream and omg....this is to DIE FOR. in any different case, the section is rather crammed with artsy-fartsy boutiques and such...%. up a map of the section at your interior sight lodge/lodge. in the Carmel section you may look into Clint Eastwood's eating place "venture Ranch", his previous place "Hog's Breath lodge" remains open, nevertheless he would not very own it anymore; the 17-mile rigidity, the remarkable sea coast, there is not any longer an invaluable purchase to "do" relatively, yet there is various stuff to be certain (if this is sensible) have enjoyable! BTW - vast Sur is in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA (in step with probability Silvermist ought to repost her answer in the "duh" section)
