Spend the day remembering him. If you have siblings perhaps you could all get together with your mom and remember him and fathers days that have passed. Don't just ignore the day - you may feel better if you go somewhere that he really enjoyed going or doing something that he enjoyed doing...he'll be looking down on you with a great big smile.

My Dad also died 8 yrs ago, but he was cremated, so theres no grave to go to. He will be in my thoughts Sunday, as he is most days anyway. And, of course, I'll say a prayer for him, and everyone else that has passed!

Mine passed away in 1992 when I was just 19. I celebrate his life by passing it on to my husband and my step-sons and their babies. I make a great meal, and then get my old photo albums out and point out my dad and tell my hubby all about him. (Although he's heard it all before!) A box of Kleenex really helps. To this day, 15 years later, it still chokes me up on anniversaries, I miss him so much. He was a wonderful father. So many people have terrible fathers, and my good one was taken from me way too early in his life. So I take father's day to celebrate his life and everything he was about.

I like to go and clean away any weeds from the grave and may plant a flower that is low maintenance.
This year I need to add more hardwood mulch (It keep the weeds and grass out), and he had planted some Spider Lilies in the yard, I want to dig up a few of those to plant as he enjoyed them.
Here a picture of the ones he started;

They everywhere now.

You could do something in honor of his memory. Like taking flowers to his grave site. Or going somewhere that you know he loved... like a place in the woods or the beach. What did he like to do?
I would suggest that you look around your town for brick ceremonies. Not sure if that's what its called... but a lot of places will sell bricks to place in buildings with the names of the people who buy them. Like at a park, you know? Maybe find something like that that's going on and buy a brick and have your dad's name put on it.

I spend it just like I always have. It is just another day of the week. I do not know what I will do that day either.
