Yeah, once you're too burnt out emotionally to really feel anything, thats what you are.

I try very hard and most successfully to avoid those poor souls who go through life as machines that just eat things and try to make money. Most scary. They are like the "Pod People" from the film "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". It boggles my brain why people would choose such miserable existences.

William Ernest Henley. 1849–1903

Invictus

OUT of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Well it sounds as if you just broke up with someone. Sorry that you're feeling so down on the human race but there is more to this "machine" than eating and making money. Try doing something nice for someone. Just because others are miserable doesn't mean that you must be. Hope you feel better soon.

I would say being burnt out emotionally is a good starting point. I would then pick myself up, dust myself off and try to do things that I enjoy and enjoy what I do. If any thoughts block me from enjoying my life, I question it. But, I think I enjoy existential crisis (questioning the validity of one's existence) at times, too. It's worth trying it on and seeing how it fits every now and then. It's like trying on a corset just to see what that feels like. A bit too constricting for my enjoyment, mostly.

I have always pursued what I enjoy
I love work and have never done it "just for the money" and I hate that our society places so high a value on money.
I make money because it is essential for LIFE in today's world, but I WORK at what I LIKE regardless of the pay level.
You spend 1/3 of you life working. Better find something you like to do with that time or you will be MISERABLE.
I see THAT all the time!

Yeah...we all gotta do that.....and why can't I be a pure spirit instead of an eating machine that turns all he eats into fecal material? Why are we just like ants doing a mindless job and the reward is death. Hell man, I really hate life when I look at it straight in the face. Take a rest...sleep for awhile....rest for as long as it takes and your mind and soul will recover. As the Beatles said, "Let it be....let it be....."

Such a view exaggerates and leaves a lot out, to make themself feel rotten. Is that fun?
