by the way mexico has been playing i think that u.s.a would win. But i hope mexico wins Viva Mexico!!!

lealegui i wouldnt say mexico sucks because i know that its not true because mexico has demonstrated themselves as a great team. U.S.A thinks they're better than mexico just because they have beaten mexico a few times but i bet usa would get crushed against a difficult team like brazil or argentina teams of which mexico proved that they could perform well.

I think the US would win against Mexico. It would be a good and exciting match to watch as it always is in my opinion. I don't think it's necessarily right to say the US has an easy raod ahead to get to the final. Panama and whom ever we play next if we beat Panama, should not be underestimated. I'm not doubting the US at all but I'm just saying that we shouldn't underestimate the teams they will face.

My prediction: one of the two, Mexico or USA, will not make it to the final, and the other will win it all. Gold Cup has been full of surprises this year, and I think it will continue. I agree that USA can't take Panama lightly (they went to the final in the last Gold Cup), and I would go further and say that nobody left can be taken lightly. Panama had 2 red cards in their last game, but I don't know if they were key players or not, but they may be a factor too. Anyway, it will be fun to watch. Go USA.

In the same World Cup where Mexico played well against Argentina the USA played a 1-1 tie against Italy (playing with 9 players).

@milkshakeman: unfortunately for you, the gold cup final is not being played in Mexico.

Mexico would win. The US has been playing great but I think mexico would beat them even if the US has beaten Mexico more times. Mexico will do much better this time. This might not happen though because the US has to beat Panama to go to the semifinals. Panama proved to be a good team in the 05 gold cup and they almost won. It might actually be Mexico vs. Panama in the final.

The USA is just not a good matchup for Mexico. Mexico play well against great skilled teams (Argentina is a great example), but the USA plays a rough, physical and fast game and the Mexicans seem to have trouble keeping up. the Mexicans show class on the ball each time they play, but they just cannot seem to get the ball in the net.

Their poor finishing may also have to do with the pressure put on them by their fans, where the Americans play without presure, but that is just speculation.

Mexico is not playing Mexican Football right now. I think alot of it has to do with the Coach and Rafa not playing in defense. He(RAFA) is a great footballer. As for the coach....great player. But great players don;t always make good coach (ie....Magic Johnson) . Mexico did mess up that they did not go after Carlos Bianchi when they had the chance. So finally to answer the question.....USA 2-1.

USA. Mexico is not at their best form yet. Hugo is still looking for the right combination and hasn't yet. While most people may not like or appreciate American football, it has come a long way and a good rivalry like the one with Mexico will always bring out the best in those "darn yankees".
