NOTHING from Nigeria is real. It is a SCAM dedicated to separating you from your money. This has been going on since the Mid 1990's. Don't be the next victim.
Let me guess, you won money, or they need you to do "Legal Transactions" in your country...
Run...
Send your info to the department of Justice. They prosecute these folks.....

Let me guess. It was a letter that stated that his client needed to get money out of the country, but needed your help. If you would take a check he sent you and cash it, then sent the amount of the check back to him, you would receive 1/3 of the amount of the check (the amount varies).

This is called the Nigerian scam, simply because it originated there. It has become literally the biggest scam on the globe. It has become so widespread that Nigerians have begun to fan out and send the letters from other countries. Also, hustlers from other countries are using it, too.

The scam of this is that the bank the check is drawn on does not exist. The checks that are sent out are forgeries, but they are such good forgeries that most banks can't tell it until the check comes back. Then the bank will charge you for the amount of the check that they cashed for you. People have lost thousands, even millions of dollars to this scam.

If anyone contacts you without you knowing who they are, telling you they will give you money, it is a scam. Why is it taking so long for people to understand this? Is it just greed on the part of the scammed that keeps these scammers rich?

Don't believe anything you get, over the Internet, from Nigeria. They have computer boiler rooms with all kinds of scams being run.

Look him up.

If it's anything to do with winning a lottery or sweepstakes it's a scam though.
