Oh, there are intelligent questions around. But it's like tracking down animals in the wild... and we lost the Crocodile Hunter to help us out.
We all just need to trudge on, not take any of the 'dumb' questions seriously, and acknowledge when someone shows some actual intelligence.

Yes I and many others are tired of the childish name calling and bashing that goes on this board. Some sound like spoiled brats but most teenagers are more intelligent than some of these posts. People just shouldn't answer the ones they consider to just be someone's radical bashing. They would soon leave since they cannot rile anyone.

i'm approximately as conservative as could be recently, yet believe you and for the checklist, the republican occasion is gonna could get a sprint extra in the direction of the middle on some subject concerns(quite whilst it comprises the type you spend and tax). To many conservs, are for the money makers, and loopholes for the wealthy. stop tryin to earn you residing on the backs of the middle and decrease class of united statesa.. Slavery is slavery regardless of if its ethnic or economic. Sorry to have been given off on a rant my chum, yet you opend a can of worms that substantial stream politics needs to avert. human beings do no longer choose for Partisan Politics, they only choose for a elementary shake. much less costly sparkling automobiles, gasoline, and wellbeing care. a sprint much less conflict (regardless of the justifications for being there) and a sprint much less area exploration (my opinion) and a sprint extra help for the elementary individual interior the country. We additionally choose for a legitamate third and 4th occasion to get power remote from the dem's and rep's, reason politics has in my opinion become a international of having money and soundbites. ok female... i'm going to close up now. sorry and God Bless al 4 now B playstation : BTW Hows the kinfolk? wish ur all doing nicely.

I'm very tired of them. I'd really like to be able to have a political debate with someone, and not be insulted for my viewpoints.
The value of a good debate is lost in our society, especially online. People dont see a reason to come to a compromise or agree on something. All they want to see is "who can throw the best insult" and "who gives up first". Thats all that fighting online is. I get hatemail from time to time, but it never has anything useful. Example:
Person: "*** u, u r a gaywad dickface. U suck"
Me: "And, I care because? Who are you anyways? Also, I'm not gay. Why are you talking to me in the first place?"
Person: "Ur so ghey ur mom is fugly"
and it goes ON and ON and ON. As the intelligence of this country falls, so does the quality of any discussion you will have. We USED to have some really good class debates at school, but now they just come down to "Whoever disagrees with me SUCKS!!!" Sad, isnt it?

It does get boring after awhile.
I put a question asking if Democrats and Republicans could stop the name calling , insults and just take a moment to thank the American Men and Women serving bravely and with honor without bashing the other side.
Was it successful............ NO
They just said of course we thank the troops then bashed the other side .

Yesterday I asked what I thought was a very well written and thought provoking question and I was bashed right away. Some people dont even bother to read questions, just form an opinion based on the fist sentance.
See the smart question I asked here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArqzzL.PQcp7rIdOsMaIcHbsy6IX?qid=20070614112404AAqWrKE

Intelligent questions stopped about 5 months ago. People (including me now) only want to ask loaded questions that bash the other party. I used to like debating on YA but then I got about 50 violations in one day and was suspended.

Well,
I think I have an answer for you on this question. I think my answer makes the most sense in terms of actually explaining to you what has happened. It is also the reason I don't "do politics" anymore (as I stated in a previous question) of yours.
First of all, many of the answers here so far are limited to dealing with just YA. I think, however, that the problems faced regarding this on YA are just symptomatic of the larger nation wide political picture. It's currently in a very sorry state...
It seems like our politicians are no longer concerned with standing for something they passionately believe in and then leading on their convictions. They, instead, incessantly poll the American public, tailor their messages and angle for votes in order to solidify their power base. In the end, what do they really stand for? Being in power.
This has caused the two major parties to move much closer to each other in terms of policy. Since they don't have as much substance to discuss, they resort to name calling.
Seriously. look at issues like taxes, immigration, minorities, public assistance, regulation, elderly care, terrorism, etc.
Both parties are very close now. The Democrats in Congress can't even muster the legislation to challenge Bush on Iraq! This after the Republicans were booted out BECAUSE of IRAQ!!!
We are living in the era of the political strategist. Guys like Carl Rove. Do you know what he's done to keep Bush in power? I don't want to drone on and on, so if you want to know what I think brought us to this sorry state, ask why the two major parties are so close now in what they stand for.

Trolls have taken over yahoo. And as much as i hate to admit it, being a conservative myself, most of the trolls are pretending to be conservative. The dems have trolls too, but not NEARLY as many. I think it stems from the Bush attitude that he is always right, and everyone else is always wrong.
