Not all will live by any stretch of the imagination. Usually getting half to live to adulthood is a good job. How long it takes for them to get to 3" depends on the size or the tank (it better be really HUGE to grow a full spawn to adulthood), the water quality and temperature as well as what and how much you feed them. Genetics also plays an important roll in how fast they grow.

If you want fish to get to three inches, try feeding them alot and water changes. This will depend on your maintenance.
