I want to find cheaper places to shop in Chicago, but still safe. :) Is there any other places to shop where we can find reasonable prices and good sales? We will be staying on wacker drive/michigan ave.

There's an H&M, Marshalls and Filene's Basement on State street near Randolph (There's also an H& M on Michigan Ave. across the street from Water Tower Place). There's also an Old navy, which is pretty cheap. But if I were you, I'd look into traveling away from Michigan ave. Public transportation is pretty easy and safe in the day time. Take a ride up to the Clark Street and Belmont area. You'll find another Marshall's as well as places like Ragstock. There are lots of bargain places in Chicago, but you have to get away from Michigan Ave to find them.

well i always shop on state street when downtown, many of the same stores but state street is cheaper, as michigan ave is geared more towards the tourist. The stores arent all that different

I would try the area around State and Washington. The big Macy's is there, along with lots of other stores. And it's really close to where you are staying. I usually shop in this area when I go downtown.

While Maxwell is nice, it's an outdoor produce/flea market type of thing.

Have fun!

The area around Halsted and Dickens has some cheaper, and really cute stores like Lucky Brand, Betsey Johnson, Bebe, Fox's, BCBG, etc. Also, along Clark streets around where it meets with Belden and around that area. Good luck!

If you don't mind traveling to the suburbs then 'Chicago Premium Outlet' in Aurora. It is an open air outlet mall with all name brands with sales most of the time on top of the reduced prices.
