I have trees at the rear of my property with branches overhanging my property. The branches are well out of reach and I have heard of this type of saw but have never seen one.

I have one and they are not all that pricey. You should be able to pick one up in a local hardware store, lawn & garden center, or fleet-farm-tractor supply business. Mine has a fiberglass pole that will extend to 12 ft, it has a saw blade for cutting thicker branches and a scissor-like cutter with a long nylon rope to reach and clip branches up to about 1 1/2 inches.

The saw to which you refer is inneffective.
Instead use loppers with telescopic handles.
They will easily snip 2 inch like a matchstick.

you can get a telescopic saw that would reach 6 foot you would have to buy one as no tool hire company would rent them they are to dangerous , the makers are sthil or husqvarna, if there is a chainsaw shop in your area they would be able to tell you more,

Check out "pruning saws' on the web, and when you find the best one for your application, find a store near you that sells it. Here's one for you http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100094897&categoryID=502949
