I'm in big 10 country and back the big 10 all the way. But you're right. Their is no legit argument why the big 10'ers can say we're better. The AP top 25 will tell you that. So will the strength of schedule. So will bowl games (minus the badgers beating up on you guys for the last two year)

No question the SEC is a better football conference than the Big 10. If you are a top 100 prospect, where would YOU rather play...the frozen plains or the tropical south?
As for which conference is better FOR football...the Big 10 wins this one hands down. There are some very storied programs in the Big 10, Ohio State & Michigan for example, and when those types of teams are good, it's just good for NCAA football. Plus the Big 10 brings to mind a different type of ball than the SEC. More of a smash mouth, beat you into the dirt type of game vs. a speed and finess image from the SEC.

Hmmmm, The SEC is an extremely tough conference to play in as is the Big 10. There is a lot of tradition in both conferences. Last year Florida throttled OSU in the big game. LSU and Arkansas may have been able to beat OSU as well but to say Vandy, Ole Miss, KU, MSU, Bama, UG, and UT could beat the Buckeyes last year would be a mighty big reach. My Vols got rocked by JoePa's Nittany Lions. I think they are the top two conferences in college football that much is for certain. This year though I believe Michigan is a force to reckon with and will make it too the BCS title game. I am not Big Blue's biggest fan but all those boys didn't come back for nothing. Chad Henne, Mike Hart, and Mario Manningham are all back with a hugh chip on their shoulders.

The SEC is the best and tougher conference. They never get noticed. Some of your better players in the league hail from the SEC. Peyton Manning anyone. The reason why the SEC is always over-looked is because the SEC is just starting to generate money and build up their prestige. I know its a known fact that any given team can beat you on any given day but in the SEC any given team in your conference can beat you like they were a winning team. Another thing about the SEC is that, the teams in the SEC dont have to worry about non-conference teams. Most of the other conferences go undefeated in thier conference. SEC are killing each other off. Its so tough. I would love to see USC, Ohio State, or Michigan last one season in the SEC. I'm not taking anything away from thier programs. Just give respect where its due.

The SEC is way better top to bottom...the best of the big 10 can barley play aganst the SEC. Mich and Ohio st beat all big 10 teams to boost their record, meanwhile the ultra competitive SEC had teams beating each other...so an undefeated ohio st isnt as impressive as say a 9-3 lsu or like a 10-2 florida.

The SEC. I'm from Chicago, from Big Ten country. Heck, I know exactly where the Big Ten conference office is. The bottom line is that if you wanna have the best competition as a college football player, you go South. Whether it is Florida, Texas, or wherever, you must go South for the fall/winter.

I am a huge of a big ten team and I still would rank the big 10 below the SEC for the last 10-15 years because of the number of quality teams the conferences have had in that time frame. The only thing the Big ten has over the SEC is that the bottom feeders of the big ten are better than the ones in the SEC (Vanderbilt is never going to beat florida or LSU or ohio st./mich for that matter, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see a Northwestern beat a Michigan) But to answer the question you have to look at the number of teams that have a legimate chance to make a run at the national champioship every year.
SEC Big 10
1.Auburn-------1.Michigan
2.Florida-------2.Ohio st.
3.Georgia----- 3. Penn st.
4.LSU
5.Tennesee
6.Alabama
Then you look at teams that will have a great season every few years.
1 Arkansas.........1.Iowa
2. S. Carolina----2.Mich st.
-----------------------3.Pudue
-----------------------4.Wisconsin
(Miss st., ole miss, vanderbilt, kentucky, minnesota, illini, indiana, NW are all bottom feeders and all belong in the pac 10.)
My Conference Rankings
1.SEC (Auburn, Florida, georgia, LSU, Tenn.
2.Big 10 (Michigan, Ohio st., Penn st.)
3.Big 12 (Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas)
4.ACC (Florida st., Miami, Va tech)
5. Big east (W.Virginia, Louisville)
6. Pac 10 (USC)
And to the guy that included Iowa as one of the powerhouses in the big ten, The best season they have ever had is when Brad Banks got killed in the orange bowl to USC.
WE ARE PENN STATE.
2 national championships and 5 undefeated seasons.

The SEC. You play hard opponets every weekend. The Big 10 all they have is Michigan vs Ohio State. Hey Sleazy Snake yea Ohio State and Michigan were ranked # 1 and 2 but how did they do in the bowl games again? If I remember they both got their butts kicked and Ohio State got their butt kicked by Florida who happens to be from the SEC. The Big 10 is overrated every year.
