I am not American but I do think that anyone who lives in another country MUST speak the language. English is the Official Language of USA so they should, absolutely. It is not only in order to promote commerce but it shows respect and the appreciation for not being in the place they ran away from.

I do not think that everyone in the United States of America should be forced to speak English. While the majority of people in the USA speak English, it is not the official language by law. Legally speaking the USA has not declared an official language. There are whole communities though they are far and few between where English is not spoken because everyone spoke the same language and they taught their kids that language and it continues to be spoken in those small communities to this day.

Well, since America is an English speaking country then maybe if you want to live here you should speak English. If I moved to China, I'd learn Chinese. If I moved to Mexico, (actually thinking about that one) I'd learn Spanish. I don't think it is too much to ask that you speak the language of the country you live in.

when I lived in Italy 18 months I realized a lot of Italian. when I lived in Germany for 7 months I realized a lot of German. when I Visited France I realized as a lot French as i might want to till now I left. it is an indication that i'm attempting to get alongside with the locals, my new associates and of respect for the individuals i'm round. no longer to finish that is disrespectful. Now, if you're chatting with a chum on a bus or some thing and also you both talk yet another language extra suitable then purchase all means talk the different language. even if a chum of mine went right into a U.S. submit workplace to mail a letter and not one of the staff spoke English. it fairly is somewhat incorrect. As a cop i'm getting very dissatisfied at the same time as someone who does talk English pretends they could't. it truly is dishonest and disrespectful. through how, i'm in elementary words fluent in English, yet I talk somewhat Italian, German, French, Arabic, Koren, Thai, and Spanish.

I don't think they should be forced into speaking english but I do believe we should not be forced into translating every damn thing into another language. If you don't like it leave....this is America...we speak English.

If they want to live here permanently - YES. If they want to speak another language they should go live where that language is spoken. If I wanted to live in another country you can bet I'd have to learn to speak their language.

English isn't so hard to learn. I've heard tiny children speaking it.
