I'm helping a friend with a movie pitch, and he needs to find someone who might be willing to sketch 4 storyboard images. As of yet, he has no money to offer, but might in the future. Apparently no-pay art assignments can’t stay up on Craigslist – are there other places to look?

Try joining www.deviantart.com and asking around. And trust me, as an "artist" myself, I know there are people willing to do something like this just for kicks. Good Luck. :]

Try contacting your local high school and seeing if a student from the art program would be willing to help. You'd be amazed at what some of those students can do. Teachers are some of the best artists I know and it's wonderful that they take their God given gifts and pass them on to children. So call the high school. There's a wealth of talent just waiting to be discovered by people just like you.

Ah, yeah. Interresting thought.... I forgot most people do not need to eat or pay bills or live anywhere that costs money! My mailman is one person I know works for FREE and I would love for my heart surgeon to work for free too. Oh, and my daycare........ free daycare would be nice....and we might as well throw in the nice kid at the market, I bet he would just stock all those shelves free for the asking! WOW what a novel idea! FREE WORK from a highly talented person, who, mostlikely PAID for an education to make him worth someones while. Artists are professional people and good ones USUALLY do not WORK for free.

You could try putting it on Craigslist as a barter instead of no pay. Your friends got to have something he'd be willing to trade to get the art done.

Ask your friends, coworkers, relatives, friends of friends. It's not easy to get work for free. And usually, the artists that do this are just starting out.

You may want to barter. For free art, you will clean their house for a month, etc. Craigslist may have a barter section.

Try students. Sometimes they are hungry for an opportunity to show their work. It's like getting a foot in the door of the industry.

What no "Take an artist to lunch" ??

Your buddy better be ready to supply SOME sort of compensation.

Look for a Graphics AAS at a two year college. They work for food.
