i have a geforce 7600gt with a amd64 3200+ and 1.5gb of ddr400 ram
however when i play my games bought on dvd/cd they play fine, good smooth graphics/frame rates.however if i download a game, especially racing games soem of them stutter and jump which is annoying
why does this happen,i could understand this with a radeon 9250 or a geforce 4mmx,but the 7600gt is a good card
could this have anything to do with my psu(400watt) being borderline as a compatible power supply
any advice would be appreciated
cheers guys!

The DDR2 guy is clueless, first off. Anyway, need a little more information, but here are a few things I see. First off, that card is decent, but it is not high end, and if you are trying to play really new games at very high settings I would not be surprised to see a little lag. As I said before, I seriously doubt the PSU is your problem. Let us know what specific games are giving you problems, and what settings you are trying to run them on.

I'm with mysticman44. Lower the video settings of the games see if this helps. install a sound card. Believe it or not a low end or integrated sound card contributes to this problem. You could upgrade your ram but ddr2 wont fit in your pc. Upgrading you psu would never hurt. It's very easy to do and only takes about 10 minutes. Defrag your hd, and run scan disk. disable any antivirus software and any other software that you don't need to have running while playing the game. If your system meets the minumum sys req's then something may be running thats slowing it down.

Your Graphics Card, PSU & CPU Are Fine...

Its Your Ram, Not the Ammount, The Type, You have ddr400....

To Play Games Which Rely On Your Hardrive Then You Need 'DDR2' Ram, its like Dual-Core For Ram, if that makes sence. Anyway you can get 2GB of DDR2 Ram for around £60!

Good Luck, and Im 90% Certian Its That!!!

once Again, Good Luck!

it may be which you havent have been given the main recent snap shots driving force, the gadget you spec is positive, the only subject it may be is that the settings on the video driving force are actually not set wisely for the sport, in there you will discover settings for coloration, refresh and function positioned all of them in the direction of the the main suitable option end. Then test with the snap shots settings in activity, although the rig is sweet its not the main recent or maximum respected snap shots card you're able to cut back your expectancies.

Might be the games. DDR2s aren't THAT much faster than DDRs and your 1.5 gbs are more than enough to handle games these days.
