I am 100% for legalizing it. ANYTHING to take away a humans suffering, when at the cost of NO ONE else, or any animal, is the RIGHT thing to do.
Some people say, well, kids are getting the marijuana from doctors, with fake medical issues. Well, I say, where are their parents? Why is a doctor giving marijuana to kids who don't need it? If they are, then they need to be investigated. That is a separate issue to those with cancer, who need a drug to alleviate their pain, when the prescribed medication coming from pharmaceutical companies (in the drug, and medication business for profit, and gain, meaning MONEY, not helping people) don't work, and don't take pain away, as they should, and are supposed to.
I never minded a HIGH person, as long as they weren't a danger to me, or anyone else. LOL!
There is no danger in folks smoking marijuana. Sometimes, they do silly things, and make me laugh. What can be wrong with that?
The world would be a much nicer place, if more people were out of misery, and pain. I believe Marijuana, for the very ill, is a road to that aim. Most of them don't have much time left on this earth, anyway, so let their last years of life, at least be filled with as many smiles, not just for them, but for others, as possible. Wouldn't you rather see a family member with cancer, be relieved of pain, and agony, and smiling, and functioning, rather than see them crying in pain, suffering in their beds, or in a hospital room? I would.

MJ will never be legal simply because you can grow it at home year round, produce the best smoke ever and not have to give the government a dime! MJ does not need processing like cigarettes and alcohol, both of which are way more dangerous than MJ and legal??? The government makes more money on it when it is illegal. Bottom line pharmaceutical companies can't charge you 10,000 times more than it cost and government can't tax it or profit in any way. These are the reason MJ is illegal. MJ could solve so many problems and help so many people it is such a shame that we let our government control this plant.

This does not need to be controlled by the government. Why should this plant be treated as a drug? It is a plant, no processing, no chemicals, etc.

What is with all these "if it's used by doctors it's OK?" people
That's what you CAN"T DO WITH MJ. IT GROWS YEAR ROUND IN EVERY STATE INDOOR AND OUTDOOR. It should NEVER have been left in government hands.

This was put here for us all not just for a few hurting people. I use because it helps relieve pain and stress AND IT FEELS GOOD JUST LIKE ALL THOSE ABC STORES OWNED BY THE GOVERNMENT SELLING BOTTLED DEATH MAKES THE PEOPLE WHO USE IT FEEL GOOD. WHAT IS SO DAMN WRONG WITH FEELING GOOD ANYWAY?, but it should make no difference, it's about REAL freedom to make YOUR OWN choices.

Medicinal marijuana is available. This takes away the smoking damage.

To say that marijuana is not a physically addictive drug is simply not true. Growers continue to up the THC content. People usually refer back to there younger days when marijuana was not as strong as it is today. This is not the same stuff as it was in the past.

As some point we will legalize marijuana, but it will have to be controlled. I can't even buy Sudafed without signing a form.

The question to ask is this: Will society benefit from legalization? I don't think you can honestly say yes.

I voted for in when in AZ. The legislature overturned the voters in this case.

I have since been diagnosed with fybromyalgia, and some states allow the use for this ailment.

I personally don't care for the other effects of its use, but might consider the use in extreme flare-ups.

This is a case like prohibition, if you ask me. Criminalizing this has created more problems than it has solved.

I don't feel this way about any other recreational drug.

Although, the war on meth is going to get out of control when lawmakers start regulating baking soda . . . many states already regulate sinus meds. If we continue in this vein, all ingredients will end up being regulated. Ridiculous.

Though I, myself am not a drug user, I believe in the legalization of ALL DRUGS. The U.S. govt. spends 40 billion a year fighting drug trafficking. Which is ridiculous when it's never going to be stopped. If drugs were legal, they could be produced legally and it would bankrupt South and Central America, take away the need for a drug pusher, control of "areas" by gangs, dissolve the illegal trafficking by the mob and other crime organizations like the Hell's Angels. Medical purposes aside, weak people will always use drugs whether they are legal or not. I say let them. Give it to them dirt cheap - let them kill themselves. The world could use a good gene pool cleansing.

I am a staunch conservative , and I don't have any use for filthy drug addled hippies, BUT who the hell am I to tell someone that they can't legally ingest an indigenous plant??

Marijuana should NOT be illegal, and federal laws regarding drugs aren't even marginally constitutional.

Funny thing;
I once read an article about this written by a political analyst, he said marijuana could easily be legal by now, but the marijuana lobby is disorganized and unmotivated.

Contrary to Richard the stalkers concept of legal for any purpose and the idiocy of the concept of not addictive, well my friends just listen to his sage advice, obviously an expert in the illicit drug business as he his with all things.

BS, people wake up, BS.

This whole thing in no different than any other that seeks to weaken AMericas moral strength and our culture.

We are not a culture of doped up druggies, we are not a culture of boozed up drunks. We are people with a moral compass.

Should this "drug" when synthesized to it core component, THC, if proven in the regular type of studies used for any other drug before approval I will gladly go along with it.

Want to know a secret? It, THC or just plain old weed, cannot pass the scientific study of efficacy. Get that, it is all between your friggin ears,

Now lets talk about another aspect, the "blind munchies". Now if that is what you are willing to study, can this manufactured drug stimulate appetite in patients with terminal disease or with eating disorders, then by all means take the pill. But this smoking of a plant is WRONG. If you believe truthfully that the DRUG has a positive and beneficial effect, then by all means synthesize it and sell. But this growing your own because some internet Doctor said it would help you is bogus.

Eight years ago I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, I took morphine, popped them like mints, I lost half of my body weight in four weeks. After surgery the growth was benign but in the mean time, I did use the drug, and it did stimulate the appetite, although I gained no weight, I at least ate. If you are stupid enough to believe that MJ eases pain you are STUPID. If you believe that its benefit is better when smoked as weed, you are a DOPER.

If you want to go through the same studies that other meds have to go through, and will do the studies, and of course someone has to pay for those millions and millions of dollars, to prove efficacy, then fine, do it. Otherwise this is just another illicit drug, intent on destroying our morals and our culture.

Be careful if you lie with dogs, often you will get fleas.

I think if cannabis replaced the position off tobacco, it would save alot off lives! This argument alone should be enough to actually legalize it if you ask me. I don't believe "marijuana" should be legalized only for medical purposes. And since it is a plant that grows wild in the nature, I belive any person on this planet should be able to grow their own..

M should be legalized for medical purposes. The opposition to legalization is based on ignorance. This ignorance has been created by movies, politcal organizations and others who simply lie about its effects. It's a drug which should be taxed and regulated. Like alchohol, driving under the effects should be equally prohibited. Like alchohol, if you use it in the privacy of your own home, it should be on ones business. (except for intolerant people. Then everything you do should be their business)

We are in a free country and, since Marijuana is not physically addictive, any laws which ban the consumption is a violation of our unalienable rights of

"...life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

There has been an argument that it is physically harmful. I think alcohol, tobacco, salt, trans-fats all have it beat on harm to the human body though.
