The other day I was in Urban Outfitters and I heard a song being played that sounds like one of the themes from the early James Bond movies - with Sean Connery - but updated to now.

IT IS NOT THE MOBY VERSION!!!!

Does anyone know what is the recording artist's name or the name of the piece?

David Arnold, the guy who did the music for several recent Bond films (Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale I know for sure) did a bunch or remakes of old Bond themes. I think the album is called, "Shaken, Not Stirred." That may be what you're looking for.

Okay, it's not the Moby version. The only other song I can think of that samples from a James Bond theme is "Millenium" by Robbie Williams (You Only Live Twice theme).

It's the Oakenfold vs. James Bond remix from the "Die Another Day" soundtrack. British DJ Paul Oakenfold produced the track.

...I don't know if this will help you, but one of the most familiar James Bond movie themes, outside of the more familiar pre-credit music piece, that's in every Bond film, is the main theme for the film, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"; check out the webpage below, to see if this is what you're looking for.
