I completely understand where you're coming from; I have a 3month old and it seems that I was just pregnant yesterday. I remember trying EVERYTHING in the book, however, none of it worked. Looking back at it, I wish I would of just have left it alone. Believe me when I tell you, I understand you wanting to hurry this up because you're FED UP and ready to have a baby. Walking is never harmful, you should do it whenever you feel like it. Having sex is fine if you want, but it won't rush the process. As far as the Castor oil, the only thing you will get is a belly ache and diarrhea. Not to mention the discomfort you will give your child by swallowing those toxins. All I can say is just relax, breath and enjoy the last moments of your pregnancy. Obviously your precious little bundle is not ready to come out for a reason - it's still cooking. :) Good luck and take it easy mama.

Honey, I am 41 weeks pregnant and have tried everything in the book. Everyone says the most effective is sex once a day. My husband and I have been having sex 2-3 times a day for 3 weeks. Its been great but I am no where nearer then I was 3 weeks ago. I am not dialated at all. Sometimes you just have to let nature take its course or wait for the doctor to induce.

So far the only thing to do is walk. thats what i did and it brought on labor. your still a week off from being induced or even though of being induced so just keep walking. thats really the only suggestion. and apparently the dr agrees because she told you to walk. good luck. p.s. always remember the baby will come when it wants too. the baby isnt ready to come out yet so therefore you are not dialating.

Though many women swear by it, walking didn't help me much-I was a week late and I walked for MILES without success...until I started having sex-that did the trick...for me...The prostaglandins in semen act on the cervix to "ripen" or soften it in some women. With your OB's permission twisting and playing with your nipples can stimulate contractions, sometimes quite strong so I would definitely consult with her/him first. But really unless you're ready there isn't much outside the hospital that actually works...is there some medical reason they aren't just letting you go to 40 weeks?
OH, and CONGRATULATIONS!

The very safest and proven method of at home inductions is:
Have sex. That's it. Anything other than that and you risk starting something too soon. Remember your Due date is just an estimate. If you are off by just 7 days, your baby will be born way too soon. So, just have sex. The progesterone from the semen will soften your cervix and the orgasm will strengthen your uterus. All things that you can do anytime during pregnancy. If it's meant to start labor, it will. If it's not, it won't and either way, your baby will be fine.
Remember, you have the rest of your life to be with your child, there is no use rushing for an extra 3 weeks when it could cause health problems for your baby.

My sister drank Castor Oil to induce labor when she was overdue.

My mother in law says to drink castor oil (gross) and I've also heard to eat spicy food, something about it is supposed to set off labor.

Some old wives tales are: walk a lot (which you've been doing), eat spicy food, have sex, have your man play with your b00bs (a lot!), go for a bumpy car ride.......

my midwife recommended these things yesterday (i'm 38 weeks and impatient too!)
-insert evening primrose oil into your cervix - all the way up! it helps soften it.
-walk walk walk and keep as busy as you can
-sex - semen and orgasms help
