It's very hard to depend yourself against these tickets. Your arguments regarding speed and weight won't hold water. You need to operate your vehicle at a rate of speed that allows for emergency maneuvers. that's why it is always your fault if you rear end someone. You need to leave enough follow distance to be able to stop in time to avoid an accident. It is the same idea with a red light. If your truck needs increased stopping distance, you have to drive with that in mind.
Luckily, in most states you can't get points assigned to your license as a result of these tickets. They can't prove you were driving. They do hold the owner of the car liable for all infractions though so you are responsible for the fine.

I used the safety first argument when I went through red lights during my driving test.
And I passed.
Common sense can prevail but it depends upon the attitude of the authority. Some officials regard laws as more important than people.

Yeha.. good luck with that. I am in Albuquerque, NM, they have them here. It has recently been approved for a suit against them.. we will see what happens. ..
I honestly don't think there is a way, I know part of the suithere is the "hearing" portion, they say its not suited for the driver, but for the courts.

well .. is it a pic of you in the suv ? or is it just your tag ?
If it's you in the Pic along with the rest of your suv , you cant. (Tried it myself!!)
BUT .. if it's just your tag an the rear end of the suv .. you can simply tell the judge that it was not you driving ! ( worked for me in fairfax Virginia !! )

Don't need to defend anything......go to court, say you weren't driving, and say NO MORE.
They will dismiss.
