If there was a fight to the death between a full grown male silverback Gorilla and a full grown male Kodak Bear in an enclosed arena, who would come out victorious?

Eric and Knicksfever seem to have good answers here, but they answered the wrong question.

You asked about a fight between a "Kodak" (not a Kodiak) bear and a gorilla.

You know that the Kodiak bear lives in North America and the gorilla lives in Africa, so the chances of them getting into a fight are pretty remote. However, a large male Kodiak bear may weigh more than 1500 pounds; a large male gorilla will generally weigh less than 500 pounds.

If a fight could be arranged, a Kodiak bear would have no trouble killing a gorilla (if he could catch him). In fact, if we exclude elephants, some rhinos, and the hippo, a big Kodiak could probably kill just about any other animal on the face of the earth. Some animal experts have suggested that a big Kodiak could kill a tuskless Indian elephant or a rhino. No one seems willing to speculate on a bear vs. hippo "match" because the hippo's blubber would make it difficult to kill and it would be "unfair" to take it out of the water.

Bears are enormously powerful. An American black bear, which may average about 400 pounds in weight, is more than a match for a large lion or tiger. The relatively small Asian sloth bear, which averages about 300 pounds in weight, has nothing to fear from a tiger.

Now, the only "Kodak" bear I know of is an inanimate, stuffed animal that a child might like to play with. I think a gorilla could tear it to shreds. So can a child.

The freaking Kodiak Bear by a longshot! A large male gorilla weighs up to 440 pounds. Kodiaks can weigh over a ton (that's 2,000 pounds). The Kodiak Bear could break the gorilla's neck with a single swipe of the paw. The gorilla has no chance whatsoever.

No fight would take place! For one thing the gorrilla eats plants and would not provoke the Bear the Grizzly would ignore the gorrilla. Unless ofspring are being attacked no fight would come. The The Gorrilla would be smart enough to avoid the bear but with no room and an insane Grizzly well its probable that both would inflict damage so much so that neither would live long after such a battle. In the end the Grizzly would live long enough to inflict so much damage that the surviving Gorrilla would die from terrible teeth and claw damage. The Grizzly would perrish due to unusual twisting strenght and better timed blows to the bears head.

The Kodiak bear would definitely win since they weigh upwards of 1500 pounds and have huge claws as well as sharp teeth. The Gorilla is only approximately 500 pounds with just sharp teeth but little or no other defenses.

The gorilla would pick up a big *** branch and beat the pure crap out of the bear. Bears are dumb gorillas are smart. Brain power will always win in a equal match.

Size and weaponry (ie claws, teeth, etc) go to the bear hands down.

Intellegence, definately goes to the Gorilla.

Who would win?????

Braun over brain in this instance.

The bear would win.

However, this is not a fair fight. It would be like me, weighing about 160 lbs. fighting the gorilla. It just is not a fair match-up.

Oh, btw........The gorilla would kill me!!!!!!!!!

If the gorilla had access to something he could climb onto, he would have the advantage. If not, I'd bet on the bear. They're built to kill.
