I have been late for over a week now and I have taken two pregnancy tests and both came up negitive. I am always on time and have been so for the past few years. A friend of mine told me that at home pregnancy test don't work on everyone, is that true?

Sometimes they do read false...so the best thing to do is to go to the doctors and have a blood test done.....they're very accurate!

Most tests work on everyone unless the person taking the test has some type of condition which would not allow the test to give a proper reading. (hormones, etc.) In any case go to you personal doctor and get a second opinion. You may be just late. Sometimes stress or trauma or a number of things cause you to be late.

Pregnancy tests measure the pregnancy hormone (HCG) found in your urine. It could be that you are not pregnant so there is no HCG to detect, or that you are pregnant and just not producing enough HCG for the test to detect. Stress can cause your period to be late, as well as other things. I'd say wait another week, take another test if your period still hasn't come. If you have no period and another negative test, call your doctor to have a blood test and to rule out other possible problems. Good luck.

its a great time isnt it, i hope you're excited. timing of your cycle and the first day of your LAST menstrual cycle is important. for example. IF the first day of your last period was april 27th, 28 days-average (cycle lengths can be 28 days or longer) after that you should get your may's period on may 25th, if not, wait two weeks later just in case theres a change in your cycle. then today w(6 weeks from your last) would be the right time to begin testing. i say begin because you never can accurate find your cycle only, estimate. best advice give it time and start tracking. and test one week apart if you can be patient. good luck

with 3 of my pregnancies, I didn't get a positive home test until I was late for my second period. Best thing to do is call your Dr and ask him to do a blood test. The urine tests they do at the Dr are the same thing you are doing at home.
