Is it 3 incorrect challenges or 3 challenges whether correct or not when using the video ref (hawkeye)?

My feeling is it should be 3 incorrect challenges and as many correct challenges as you like.

Point one of the challenge rule seems to indicate the umpire got it wrong in the Roddick challenge, and if it is acceptable then there is no reason why not to use it. At least by serving a second serve you have the chance to win the point, if you don't challenge you have already lost the point. At tournaments where an Electronic Review System is used, the following procedures should be followed for matches on courts where it is used. 1. A request for an Electronic Review of a line call or overrule by a player (team) shall be allowed only on either a point-ending shot or when a player (team) stops playing the point during a rally (returns are permitted but then the player must immediately stop). The service that was out is not the point ending shot and the server has not stopped play, also the point ending shot (as the serve is called good) is the return.

Its actually 2 incorrect challenges per set at the US Open and the Australian Opne and Wimbledon has three. So , you're right ,u wont lose challenges when they're correct but you will when they're incorrect.
And upon having 2/3 incorrect challenges and unlimited correct ones , you also get an extra one in tiebreaks.

If you're talking about the pros, it's 2 per set. If you get both correct, you gain an additional one.

yes the player has 3 challenges, but if he/she wins the challenge he/she won't lose it... he/she loses it if he misses
