What is your favoutite board/card game and why?

Backgammon is a great board game. as is Scrabble.

Bridge is about the best card game, but I'm going to take up Poker when I get some time.

Another board game worth a look is Go

Mah Jong as well when I get the chance

Without a doubt it's got to be chess. It is the only game I can think of which is won TOTALLY by skill alone.
