A friend of mine who's in the gutter business went to a house where I'm the general contractor and installed some gutters, while he was there he drove over some fresh landscaping. The client brought it to my attention. The landscaper charged $200 to come back and fix it. When i paid my gutter guy, I asked him to be more careful and that I had been backcharge but was not charging him....I knew it was a snall job for him.....no big deal. I appreciated him coming back to do it.
Suprizingly he showed his *** and said that I shouldn't have even brought that up.
Here I thought I was doing him a favor by not back charging him.

Sounds like he was way out of line to tell you that you shouldn't have mentioned it. He did the damage - actually he should have been the one to pay for it. He's being an idiot to complain at your telling him about it.

sure, you should mention. He was sloppy and you cut him some slack. based on his response, lose his phone number. next time it could be extensive damage.
