I am doing a paper for school with this topic. I believe a true fan is a fan forever to their team and the people that change, depending on where they live, are not fans but a casual observer of the game. So far it looks like I am right.

It is turning out to be about as I expected. So far it is 24-2 (92.3%) in favor of never switching teams. I want to thank all of you for your help and I will not be picking a winner. When this question comes up for a vote I would like all of you to come back to this question and pick your best answer. Thank you again for your help.

No, I could never do that. I've liked the Mets for 20 years now and I don't plan on changing that at any time. Eventually you become attached to a franchise and friends I have who've moved to other cities seem to feel the same way. If it was a sport I cared less about (i.e. hockey) then maybe I could be swayed...otherwise, it's the Mets for life. Good question though.

I don't believe in the allegiance "crap". These are just people making excuses for being "true" fans in the sense. I was born in SF, but that did not prevent me from following other teams. I lived in NY and liked both the Yankees and Mets, lived in the SF East Bay and liked the A's as well as the Giants. What fun is it to just follow only nine players in a 25 man baseball team roster?
I enjoy baseball and all of the players in the league. Just a "true" sports fan that's open minded and appreciate it as a sport and not a business. These guys went through hell to get to where they are now.

My favorite team has always been the Dodgers and that is not changing.
I follow the local team where I live and it is not the same at all, I just go to the game because I like to watch some baseball, drink some beers and relax. I cannot root for other teams, although I often enjoy watching them.

NO, i couldn't switch teams, i live and breath for cardinal baseball. it's the greast team ever. i could see if i moved i might be a fan of another team, but i would never be as big of a fan. Like if i moved to LA i could become a dodger fan, because i would go to some of there games, but i would still be a bigger cardinal fan.
the cards have always been my favorite team and they always will be.

No! Absolutely not!
I moved across the country 3 times in the past 5 years and I would never change teams because of location.

I became a Baltimore Orioles fan the same time I became a baseball fan, while living in Maryland in the early 1970's. Since then, I've lived in California (Dodgers & Angels country), northeastern Pennsylvania (Phillies & Yankees), upstate New York (Yankees & Mets), and northcentral PA (Phillies, Pirates, & Yankees). Through it all, I've been an Orioles fan, despite their obvious shortcomings in recent years.

My favorite team now and forever will be the Reds. I have never lived near them or seen them play but in about a week I am going to Seattle to see them play there and what a thrill of a lifetime!

No way. Ya have to stay true to your team no matter where you are. I live in Milwaukee but I'm a Yankees fan for life. Don't get me wrong, I like the Brewers as well, but Yankees will always come first.
