I was burning a red candle to bring back the love of me and my ex...it started burning black and smoking..so i put someone on top of it and it smothered the flame.
should i re-light it..or get a new candle?

I burned it because I believe my ex girlfriend of 4 years is THE 1.
She has some real bad influence in her life right now and is blind to see what i am.

Do not light the same candle again. First try to do a protection spell on yourself. It could be that someone is trying to take this person from you and they don't want her to go back. After you do the protection spell then do the red candle again. Good Luck -

I personally would start all over again. But a couple of things first before you do.
One, it could have been a natural anomaly; let's consider that.
Two, it might not have meant to happen, not all spells work, trust me.
It could be the Universe's way of telling you to find a non-magickal solution to the problem.
Three, you might want to reconsider doing it again for the simple fact that Mercury is going retrograde, today as a matter of fact, and will stay retrograde for 3 weeks.
I don't know if you are familiar with astrological/planetary influences, on magickal and non-magickal levels, so I don't want to appear condescending.
Mercury is the communication planet, the exchange planet if you will. It takes things from one place to another; it is also the planet that influences logic and reason, and intellect.
A retrograde basically means the planets slows it's transit down to such a degree it appears to be moving backwards in the sky. It's not really moving backwards, it just looks and FEELS like that, lol....
So, if Mercury influences things that go from one point to another, and it is now retrograde, what do you think will happen to your spell?
You probably guessed it, I hope anyway.
Active Magick has a problem working during a Mercury retrograde. Passive Magick, ie. Meditating, Scrying, Divination, Past Life Regressions.....Astral Travel, because even though Mercury governs travel, it's on a spiritual level or aspect, and quite safe from retrograde effects.

I think the "powers that be" are trying to tell you it is not meant to be between you two. I know this is not what you are wanting to hear. But the candle and smoke turning black is a negative sign. If you are hurting, there are spells out there that help you find self-love and also to help you get over a lost love. I, myself, would accept it as it is and move on. Speaking as a Chaote, I would say that either 1-it is the wrong time to be doing this spell or 2-and the more obvious-you need to let go or else you can verge onto "stalker" mode. Some signs are easy to read but since people do not want to listen they keep pushing it. Throw your candle out-since you cannot reuse them, and re-consider if you would really want to comtinue this or try something new. BB/93

From what I've read I dont think love magick should be toyed with. And with saying that I'm guessing a higher being was trying to tell you that. I would not relight that candle. I would also wait awhile and let life play out and see what happens with you situation

You shouldn't try to finish it. Sometimes we get hints from Spirit this way. So instead of trying to bring someone back to you maybe you should just ask for the ability to love yourself.

you need to examine the reason you burnt it in the first place... this could be a sign you're trying impose something that shouldn't be

Maybe you should take the hint that doing magic to influence someone else against their will is BAD.
Obvoiusly Someone knows that she is not "the one", even if _you_ think she is.
