Someone at my office just gave me some speakers for my computer. I'm guessing that this computer has never played sound before, so obviously they won't just work when you plug them in. I have Windows XP professional. Someone told me I needed to download a c-media driver or something. Is this right? If so, where would I get that? Thanks!

IF the PC has a SOUND CARD it will have a headphone/speaker socket, so plug n the speakers, that should be all that's needed.

Windows XP has "Media player" pre installed unless work have removed it.

You need the driver (software) loaded on your computer. That software is specific to the company that made it. Some sound cards are built into the mother board... then you should be able to find the driver by downloading it off of the company's web site that manufactured your mother board. Make sure you have the modle number also to get the right sound driver.
