I think it can go either way. Players today are bigger, stronger, faster and more athlethic but the the old school players were way tougher than this generation. I mean in the old days players weren't worried about the big contracts. When the season was over, some of the old school players had jobs in factories. All of this plays a part because back in the days players were more geniuine. Nowadays its all about business. I mean damn what happened to the heart of football. There are a few players left that have that old school mentality. I would love to see more players play football instead of whining and complaining.

When some people hear this question, they think old players in their prime vs. new players now. But the real way to think of it, is the skill levels that they had at the time. Back then, I have seen that not every team had a good tackler, now, every team has at least 1 good defensive player, so now the skill level has increased, so I believe new school is better, because the skill level is higher.

I think old school NFL teams were BETTER.

mainly b/c they were TEAMS, not just 11 guys on the field at the same time.

The Colts this year played as a team. And the Patriots play as a team. The management of these organizations have committed to keeping the core players together.

The athletes are better, bigger, stronger, and faster today than in the old school days. I do believe old school players given the training we have today would star like they did in their era. I do think today you have more individuals and less team concept than the old schools, but I really don't know because of media coverage and technology. I do know football has evolved over time and will continue to. Coaching is better also, with full time staffs, and film etc..Today's defenses are much more skilled than the old schools, but the tacking was better in the old days.

NFL players today tend to be better than Old School players, but you've got to remember, even though they weren't as good or entertaining as the players are today, many of them were quite a lot tougher. Back in the real old days, they played with thick shirts and leather helmets. If someone thrice your weight moving at at least twice your speed sacked you back then, you were more likely to be injured, but those men got right back up and kept doing their job.

I think that we are physically more capable than they were due to improvements in hydration, diet, training, and of course the technology to monitor growth, speed, etc., however, those guys were savages. They were of greater mental resolve than today's player. They played the game tougher, grittier, bloodier, smarter, and crazier than any of us could today. They didn't make all the cash via salary or endorsements either, so they were running around crushing each other for regular pay.

not at all. in fact, quite the opposite. how players train has changed, not much else has. players were tougher and, more versatile back then. today's players, for the most part, would not have made it back then. a few elbows and, knee's to the head and, most of them would be done for the season.

Teams back then lacked the overall physique and skill we now see in every team. Players are way more athletic these days.

You hit the nail on the head with "old". A lot of teams' squads aren't getting any younger and their draft picks to replace them have been wanting.
