We have one made by Graco that has two receivers. That's nice because I can leave one in the bedroom all the time, and take the other receiver from room to room or to the backyard when my older child is playing and the baby is sleeping. Look for the option of using either a power cord or batteries, and multiple frequencies (so you can switch if you're picking up the neighbor's cordless phone).

There are also monitors that have more features that those basics. You can get one that has video if you would like to be able to see the baby in their crib. There's also a version that has two-way communication so you can talk to the baby over the monitor without going into their room.

But the basic one way, audio only monitor has worked well for us.

We have only one receiver, but it would be GREAT if we had two. We have used ours every day and night for the last 9 1/2 months (since our daughter was born) we keep the charger in our bedroom so it charges while on at night and then it's fully charged for me to take downstairs during nap time during the day. We have never had any problems with it, one time we thought it quit on us but my husband took the battery out and put it back in and it's been fine since. We are able to take it in the front/back yard or in the basement (my daughter's room is on the second floor) and it works perfectly. We love it :-)

My friend has been through several of the Fisher-Price ones and has had to replace all of them b/c they have pooped out on her.

i decide for to advise getting the AngelCare action detector demonstrate screen. the reassurance that incorporates understanding that for the duration of the journey that your newborn might end respiration you do not capture it, an alarm will sound to wake you up is super! Yeah it particularly is a primary infant demonstrate screen, it comes with a action detector pad. so which you have the receiving end on your room with the sound the place you will pay attention your infant too. in case you have difficulty with interference you are able to replace the receving end for the different infant demonstrate screen and it will %. it up. First 2 months we used it, we had no problems with the sound, then it have been given too plenty interference, so we offered basically a primary sound demonstrate screen and used the receiving end of that for in our room. Then ultimately that too have been given interference, yet you're able to pay attention them respiration, sighing, shifting around.

The one with the two receivers. That way you dont have to carry one around with you. Put one in the kitchen, and one in the living room. Or if you and the dad are in different places of the house, you each get one. Works great for me!
