engineering in computer science?

hey..ivve just given my 12th...n now applying for admissions to engg n sc programs..but not so sure yet...i'm thnking of applying for btech in compsc....i'm interested in pcm esp more of chem..n i'm good at studies its just that i need to be focussed. also i had infomatics practices as a secondary subject in th 11th n 12th grdes n i scored well...wat i'm asking is that...u know if there are any comp engineers around (coz i hardly know any).can u give me an idea of the job profile n the challenges.. n whether u find ur job satisfying enough (i mean i know it pays well ..but are u career wise happy? )

I create/maintain computer applications and am happy with my job. Pay and benefits are good. I have a Computer Science degree with a major in Information Systems. I also have a Business degree. I'm glad I chose this path because there aren't that many jobs around here that I can think of that make good money that I'd want to do. I wouldn't want to be a doctor/dentist/lawyer etc. My job is pretty slack and easy. Learning things in school was pretty difficult, the actual job is much easier than what I learned in school. Because you are female, that probably gives you an advantage in your job search once you graduate since most companies try to have a good male to female ratio.

You need to be flexible open and at the same time focused about your goal in conjuction with the realities around you.

Its a good field for tech savvy..know your ground

What do you like..sitting all day long in front of the PC developing creative cutting edge apps or you would like to manage tech and people or build computer networks or be the sales specilist in software or networks...its so huge...

Well i wanted to be a serious Communication Engineer in wireless or fix communication industry and i knew and people told me i was excellent there....and i'll be doing Business Consulting for IBM Pak Global from this summer...funny

An excellent field to get into is bio-informatics. It combines biology and informatics. It is a wide open area and good people with this combination are tough to find.
The pay is excellent (totally 6 figures) and Pharmaceutical companies will be drooling at your resume.
