The people of Palestine, in Gaza and the West Bank, are living through a Kafkaesque nightmare. They are the innocent victims of aggression and yet they seem to attract all the blame.
The Israelis treated Fatah like dirt. President Bush followed their example and wouldn't even speak with them.
The Palestinian voters saw that and when the opportunity next came to elect representatives they voted for Hamas.
America, Israel and , shamefully, much of Europe said that Hamas is a 'terrorist' organization so funds for the Palestinians were withheld.
Yet Palestinians need these funds because the Israelis have an economic stranglehold on Palestine.
They may have left Gaza but they still control it as though it were an open-air prison, which in a way it is. They have divided those areas of the West Bank they haven't occupied into 5 areas. Palestinians have to cross checkpoints, and sometimes wait as long as 4 hours at each one, just to go about their ordinary business.
A deal with Fatah was probably the best opportunity the Israelis had to find some sort of peace. That's long gone now.
Who's responsible for the fighting now? The arrogant Israelis, who know whatever they do they'll have American support. And, of course, the Americans who can't see that their unquestioning support for Israel is one of the major causes of terrorism in the world.

I am amazed by the response of the guy who answered just before me. What, so in addition to providing brand new housing, school, water and electricity to Gaza, Israel should now give even more to the very people who attack Israeli citizens with suicide bombers and rockets???
The Palestinians democratically elected Hamas. They chose Hamas knowing that this group were dedicated to destroying Israel - whereas Fatah had already agreed to peace talks.
Why on earth should Israel - which is a tiny country, and not at all wealthy - give money to these Islamic extremists? It would be madness.

The stress is from all aspects on Palestine and that they are scuffling with among themselves rather of their genuine enemy. regrettably on a similar time as they're scuffling with among themselves the Israeli/Palestine conflict heavily isn't resolved.

Uhh, I'd go with Fatah and Hamas.
But if you have a secret conspiracy theory for this one, please entertain us.

It's obviously in the interests of arab states with a fundamentalist agenda and a hatred of of Judaism and Israel. The Israelis with their resources and those of their supporters in the west could do much by pouring in in a share of their wealth and resources to lift them from poverty and suicidal despair.
