I guess I should ask why so many American men go crazy at the mention of a Russian woman, not literally "love" them, but rather are attracted to them?

The Russian women the pretty ones are extremely exotic and sexy. They know how to make a man feel like a man. Unlike the American ladies that make man feel like woman.
This culture has retain the boundaries between man and woman. In America all there are no distinction between man and woman. In fact the woman are more man then man.
In general Europeans, and other countries this boundaries are not broken yet . So a Man feels like man and ladies are special like ladies.
The danger majority of Russian woman are very materialistic.

what I can't understand is why in Hong Kong strip clubs the american guys were going for the Russian gals when there were so many beautiful Asian girls there?

i think american men is douchebad and dirtbag, i don't like american men, most of them is cheater, they never feel satisfied and enough, with what they get from women/wife, never be being independent, always lack of attention, american men never be grown up

Bonny is right - also....you have to understand that most people here are "rubes"...they are not well traveled so ANY foreign woman is exotic to them...many Russian women are sexually liberated and tall and model like...and most are very intelligent...but it isn't that there is anything wrong with American women, but that other women are just different to them...it is like eating vanilla ice cream and then you see pistachio and suddenly pistachio is better
