FanFiction.net?

Question

If people use fanfiction.net to write their own stories, and maybe even get them published, then wouldn't they be plagerizing (spelling?) if they used an author's characters??? Even if they gave a disclaimer, it still wouldn't be their work/story would it?

FanFiction.net stories are for writing stories, but definitely not for publishing. Web publishing is different than actual publishing. As long as they aren't making money with their web publishing, then it is not illegal.
